Assuming that the bodies will stink, fall apart and decay in the land of Karbala due to the hot weather if they remain there for a couple of days, and even the animals would not approach there for the stench it will have. They left the bodies there for three nights and days, but nobody decayed or fell apart.
When Imam Sajad peace be upon him came in order to bury the bodies, the nomads said: o son of the messenger of Allah! Where does this fragrance, which we have not smelled so far, come from? Imam asked everybody to gather and brought them all near the body of that black slave and said: the fragrance is for this martyr.
The other bodies too had a great fragrance but those people could not smell it, but it was only the fragrance of that black slave that the people of this world could smell. The people asked Imam about the fragrance, and Imam said: when my father put his head on his lap, he turned Allah and said:
O Allah!
«أللهمَّ بَيِّض وَجهَهُ وَ طَيِّب ريحَهُ» «1».
Grant him the complete honor and prestige and bless him with a smell as fragrant as yours.
