The Sheikh Eid Charity has inaugurated 216 mosques in a number of countries from January until the end of June of this year with a cost of QR16 million, and has contracted to build 241 others costing over QR20 million in cooperation with charity organisations in the respective countries, reports Qatar News Agency (QNA).
The Eid Charity's Head of Project and Foreign Aid Department Ali bin Khaled Al Hajri said the mosque locations include in Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, India, Bahrain, Niger, Yemen, Indonesia, Pakistan, Kosovo, Bangladesh, Thailand, Togo, Comoros, Ghana, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, and Nigeria.
The association thoroughly studies countries benefiting from the project to evaluate their need, he said, adding that the mosques are considered to be Islamic centres housing libraries and clinics as well.
