A senior Taliban commander was killed as a result of a drone strike in Logar province, an Afghan official said on Sunday.
Mawlawi Habib Rahman, the head of Taliban’s military commission in Baraki Barak District was reportedly targeted the airstrike last night, Governor of Baraki Barak District Mohammad Rahim Amin said.
He further added that three comrades of Mawlawi Rahman were also killed in the airstrike carried out in Cholzi area.
The district governor further said that Mawlawi Rahman was doing destructive activities in Baraki Barak for the past few years.
“After the killing of Mawlawi Habib Rahman, the security in this district will get better.” he said.
Also on Friday, Spokesman for the police headquarters of Takhar province Khalil Asir said that two senior Taliban commanders were killed by the Afghan security forces in Northeastern Takhar province.
Asir said that the operations were conducted in Ishkamish and Khwaja Ghar districts.
He further identified the killed Taliban commanders as Qari Salahuddin the Taliban so-called governor for Ishkamish District and Qari Ibrahim another Taliban commander.
He said that 25 other militants were killed and 19 wounded in these operations.
The police spokesman confirmed the martyrdom of two policemen in these operations.
He said that three other policemen also sustained injuries in the exchange of fire with militants.
