Al Wefaq to Saudi Kingdom: free Sheikh Al Nimr, Avoid tension

Al Wefaq National Islamic Society said the death sentence issued against Sheikh Nimr Baqer Alnimr could further complicate things. Al Wefaq called on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to free Alnimr, adding that he maintained a nonviolent approach in his speeches and movement.

Sheikh Nimr Alnimr is a prominent religious figure who is defending political, social and religious rights ensured by international covenants. Al Wefaq stressed that opinion should not be confronted with arrest and death sentences.

Al Wefaq expressed solidarity with Sheikh Alnimr and recalled for his release, stressing that dialogue is the way to détente, stability and common interests in political disagreements.
