At 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, several Muslim families living in Swampscott will share their personal stories, as well as reflections on social and political concerns that touch their lives, at the annual Winter Forum of the Unitarian Universalist Church, 101 Forest Ave. Swampscott.
The program will follow the morning’s 10 a.m. service of worship. The two primary speakers will be Mounzer Aylouche, who was raised in the Islamic faith in Lebanon, and has been a resident in this country for most of his adult life, and Keli Khatib, an American woman who converted to the faith after Sept. 11, 2001.
The public is invited to learn more about the Islamic faith and about how the lives of Muslims on the North Shore have changed in recent years. There will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion and a light lunch will be served following the program.
