Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), The seventh prize and certificate distribution ceremony of all Pakistan Quran memorization competition was held at National Library Auditorium (NLA) in Islamabad on Thursday.
The competition was organized by the International Organization for the protection of the Holy Quran, a subsidiary of International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) while the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sahibzada Hamid Saeed Kazmi was chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he said Quran is the most read and memorized book in the world unparalleled by any other.
He appreciated the services of IIRO for encouraging and increasing the number of Huffaz (memorizers).
The Minister said Pakistan Peoples Party’s government was taking all steps for the promotion and protection of the Holy Quran.
Earlier, in his address, the Managing Director (MD) Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal Zamurd Khan said his organization would meet all educational expenses of Huffaz children at public sector universities.
He said it was for the first time in the history of Pakistan that Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal started a programme to fully support 15, 000 orphan children for 14 years adding 1, 600 children were enrolled in the programme no far.
MD Bait-ul-Maal Zamurd Khan also announced Rs 50, 000 each for the children who won positions in the competition.
Acting Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Abur Rehman Al Budaiwi in his speech said that activities for the memorization and promotion of the Quran should be increased.
Later, the Chief Guest distributed prizes and shields among the successful students.
The competition was held at all Pakistan level among 750 students out. Of those, 50 were the final winners.
The winners will now participate in the next phase to be held in Makkah, Saudi Arabia during the month of Ramadan.
