Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), A deadly fire claimed the lives of over 115 people on the evening of 3 June 2010 in Old Dhaka, Bangladesh, injuring over 150 local residents. Since the tragic event, The World Federation of Khoja Shia's partnering agency in Bangladesh has been working with the Shia community who was also affected by the fire.
The World Federation of Khoja Shia is sad to learn that 10 Shia Muslims were among those who were burned to death. There were no Shia burn victims alive or in the hospital. The following information was received from our agent about the Mo’mineen who lost their lives:

Funds were raised locally to help the families of those who lost their lives to pay for any burial, funeral or immediate living expenses.
BANGLADESH FIRE FUND
The World Federation of Khoja Shia has opened the BANGLADESH FIRE FUND and is urging community members from around the world to donate to this appeal. Contributions to this fund will be sent to Bangladesh to pay for the repair and reconstruction of two homes in Nawab Katra Nimtali, Old Dhaka that were damaged by the fire.
The World Federation of Khoja Shia offers its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who passed away in the tragic fire. May Allah (SWT) grant the Marhumeen peace and a chosen place in the proximity of our Ahlul Bayt (AS).
