London Islamic School Head Teacher, Abdulhadi Mamon, was named Head Teacher of the Year by the Association of Muslim School (AMS).
400 delegates and senior educationalists and trainers watched Mamon receive his award on April 17 in Madani High School, Leicester.
The awards were judged by a panel of senior educationalists including an Ofsted Inspector who followed four criteria; one, how the school meets the Government’s Every Child Matters (ECM) agenda; two, most recent Ofsted inspection report; three, contextual value added on pupils within the Head teachers tenure and four, progressive improvements in GCSE and SATs results.
Moreover, the judges viewed the criteria within a context that Mamon excelled vastly in all four criteria with lack of resource available in the school, facility constraints and restricted decision making powers. Yet the development of the school was immense within five year tenure as Head Teacher at the Tower Hamlets based school.
The AMS UK spokesman told The Muslim News, “Abdulhadi made an exemplary contribution to the improvement of outcomes for learners. We had a good number of nominations for this award from many schools where the head teachers have transformed the governance, spirituality and achievements of the schools, having a direct impact on the learning of individual children. Brother Abdulhadi stood out in particular and the award is richly deserved May Allah Almighty accept his efforts.”
A humble Mamon said, “I do not deserve this and that there are other Muslim Head teachers all around the UK who work tirelessly doing what they can for their schools and faith, so I accept this award on behalf of all of them.
“I would like to thank the board of education, LIS staff, parents, my beloved students and my wife for their support, encouragement and patience over the years for they are the true award winners.”
