According to Ahlul Bayt (A) News Agency – ABNA.ir – The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has said the best criterion for the Islamic revolution is Imam Khomeini and the policies and ideas of the founder of the Islamic republic.
Addressing a huge multi-million strong gathering of mourners in the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic republic, Imam Khomeini (may his souls rest in peace), the Leader expounded on Imam Khomeini's thoughts, ideology and righteous path, and emphasized the need for determining a criterion for avoiding deviations in the path of the Islamic revolution and stressed that the late Imam Khomeini himself sets the best standard, the best criterion, yardstick and gauge for this purpose.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the issue of occupied Palestine, Gaza's Zionist-imposed blockade, and the Israeli regime's attack on the "Freedom Flotilla" are some of the most important issues of the world of Islam today. The Leader emphasized that the world of Islam must stand with all of its might against the callousness and brutality of the Israeli regime.
The Leader went on to remind the audience of the historic phrase of the late Imam, that "Israel is a cancerous Tumor", and said the barbaric attack of the Israeli military on a flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian aid for the people of blockaded Gaza strip was a huge mistake by the Israeli regime. He added mistakes such as this bring the Israeli regime closer to its "inevitable and certain end" – its plunge into the abyss of death.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei referred to the NPT review conference which drew to a close recently in New York, and said: "Some major powers organized this event in order to make it more difficult for nations of this world to have access to peaceful nuclear energy, placing more obstacles along their way".
The Leader said some of the major results of the NPT review conference were the fact that many nations called fore destruction of all nuclear weapons, they called for a complete halt to manufacture of all nuclear weapons worldwide, they condemned the Israeli regimes nuclear weapons arsenal, and emphasized that all countries are lawfully entitled to peaceful civilian use of nuclear energy.
Imam Khamenei said Israel's policies have pushed it to the brink of collapse, adding that Muslim nations should take their cue from Imam Khomeini's strong stance on Israel and its policies.
"The attack on the Gaza aid convoy showed how barbaric the Zionist regime really is," said Ayatollah Khamenei, referring to Israel's deadly commando attack of the Gaza-bound aid convoy, which left around 20 people dead and more than 50 others injured.
According to Imam Khamenei, the late Imam made it his prime goal "to fight dictatorial regimes" such as Tel Aviv and thus he emerged as the main driving force behind world resistance movements.
"In truth, the ideology of the late Imam revived the spirit of resistance in the whole world, and particularly in the Islamic community," said the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
"If the Iranian nation had not made the exploitation, monopoly and control of the resources of nations difficult for domineering powers by choosing the path of the Revolution it would not become the target of such enmity and malice," he added.
Ali Khamenei added "The U.S. and Britain, which usually stand for the human rights, keep silence on the recent attack by Israel on "flotilla of freedom" and a three-year blockade of 1.5-million population of the Gaza Strip"
"flotilla of freedom" had no military cargo and strongly condemned Israel's actions, naming them as "premeditated murder" he added.
The Israeli Navy's attacked on the "Flotilla of Freedom" carrying the humanitarian aid to Gaza May 31. The "Flotilla of Freedom" consisted of six vessels carrying about 600 human rights activists from European and Arab countries. They intended to bring 10,000 tons of humanitarian supplies, including medicines and construction materials, to the Gaza Strip. According to media, about 19 people died during an Israeli special operation. Israel confirmed that 10 people martyred.
Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989, ten years after propelling the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 that put an end to the despotic Pahlavi regime.
