The above hadith makes it amply clear that not fulfilling someone's right or delaying the repayment of debt is equal to Khayanat. Consequently, all the traditions that are recorded in the chapter on Khayanat are equally applicable here and the Prophetic traditions have described Khayanat as a kind of oppression.
The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) has announced: "A Muslim who inspite of being capable delays the repayment of debt has committed ...
In the name of Allah the All Merciful the All Compassionate
There is no god except Allah only in Knowing Him is His extreme pleasure. There is no god but Allah after knowing Him is His extreme pleasure. There is no god except Allah with this knowing Him is His extreme pleasure. And Allah is the greatest in knowing this is Allah's greatest pleasure. Allah is great with this certainty is Allah's pleasure. Praise is for Allah in knowing it is ...
Author : Shaykh Abbas QummiMa'ad is derived from the root word Aud that means to return. Hence the returning of the spirit (rooh) back to it's body is called Ma'ad. After death every soul shall arise to see the reward or retribution (as the case may be) of their deeds.Ma'ad consists of stages Death (Maut), Grave (Qabr), Intermediate Stage ...
Muhammad ibn Ya'qub (al-Kulayni) from 'Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from 'Ali ibn Asbat, from Ahmad ibn 'Umar al-Hallal, from 'Ali ibn Suwayd from Abu al-Hasan (Al-Imam al-Rida [A]): Says 'Ali ibn Suwayd that he asked Abu al-Hasan (A) about the 'Ujb (self-conceit, vanity) that vitiates the quality of human deeds. Said the Imam (A), "There are several levels of 'ujb, one of them is when one's bad qualities appear to ...
Certain Greater Sins (Gunah-e-kabira) render the good deeds void, the details of which will follow in the coming discussions. In brief, it must be mentioned that to refrain from sins is more important than performing good deeds. The following narrations are quoted in support of this statement:
The Importance of Abstaining From the Prohibited
First Tradition
Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.) said, "To refrain from eating a single morsel of Haraam ...
According to the Quranic ayats, one who resorts to short weighing and defrauding does not believe in the Day of Judgement and the Hereafter. If the person had any belief in the Hereafter, he would know that, even if he succeedes in fooling people, he would never be able to hide his fraud from the Lord of the worlds; he would realise that on the Day of Judgement he would have to account for whatever he has earned by defrauding and make good the ...
The sixteenth Greater sin is singing songs. Traditions have graded it amongst the mortal sins. This fact is clear from the narration of Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.) as quoted by Amash. Muhammad Ibne Muslim relates that Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s.) said, "Singing is that sin which has been promised a penalty of fire (Hell) by Allah."
It is evident from numerous reports, that whichever sin incurs Hell as its punishment, is a Greater Sin. ...
Sulaiman bin Khalid says; " I asked Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.) regarding the Quranic verse
(And We will proceed to what they have done of deeds, so We shall render them as scattered floating dust. (Surah Furqan 25:23)
He said, "By Allah, even if their deeds are as white as Egyptian cotton, but if they find sin and lewdness they do not abstain from it." (Iddatud-Dai)
In other words, their good deeds are scattered like dust due to ...
My Lord, bestow Your blessings on Muhammad and his descendants; respond to my prayer when I pray to You; listen to my call when I call You; and turn to me when I make my submission to You in confidence. I have come running to You and am standing before You imploring You in humility and hoping to get the reward You have for me. You know what is in my heart, and You are aware of what I need. You know my mind and are not unaware of my future ...
The sixth Greater Sin is to be disobedient to one's parents as expressly mentioned in the traditions from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and the Pure Imams (a.s.). These have already been quoted in the first chapter. A tradition of the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) says that the greatest sins are shirk and to be disobedient to one's parents. The seriousness of disobedience to parents as a Greater sin can be gauged from the fact that the Holy Prophet ...
1. The Successor of the Prophet
The Shi‘a Ithnā `Ashari Muslims believe that after the Prophet of Islam, the leadership of the world of Islam fell to Amir al-Mu'minin, ‘Ali (a.s.), and then to his eleven infallible descendants. This belief is as clear as the rays of the morning sun, and those who are unprejudiced and impartial will have no cause to doubt it.
Jābir bin ‘Abdullāh, one of the prominent companions of the Prophet ...
Simultaneous with the study of scholarly matters, the seminaries of religious learning are in need of teaching and learning in morals and spirituality. It is necessary to have moral guides, trainers for the spiritual abilities, and sessions for advice and counseling. Programs in ethics and moral reform, classes in manners and refinement, instruction in divine learning, which are the principle aim of the mission of the prophets, peace be upon ...
The greatest sin of the heart and the worst disease of the soul is hypocrisy. Nifaq totally separates man from humanity. The hypocrite is counted among the satans. Even in this world he is considered most degraded by Allah and in the Hereafter he shall inhabit the lowest level.
إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ
“Surely the hypocrites are in the lowest stage of ...
The fifth Greater Sin is the murder of that person whose execution has not been ordered by Allah and the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.). Traditions which confirm that murder is a Greater Sin have already been mentioned at the beginning. Moreover the verses of the Holy Quran mention clearly the Divine punishment for the murderers.
"And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his punishment is Hell; he shall abide in it, and Allah will send ...
My father quoted from Abdollah bin Jafar Homayri, ‘A man I do not remember his name and was one of our accompanies quoted from Obeid-allah bin Musa, and he from Mohalhil Abdi, and he from Abi Haroun Abdi, and he from Rabiat al-Sadi, and he from Abizar Ghaffari,
“Prophet Muhammad kissed Imam Hassan and Imam Hussein and said, ‘He will not be burned in Hell, the one who likes Hassan and Hussein from the bottom of his heart, even ...
Zakaria, the son of Ibrahim, was a Christian. Later he converted to Islam and had the honour of meeting Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.). He told Imam (a.s.) "My mother is a Christian and she is old and blind." The Imam advised him, "Serve your mother and behave kindly towards her. Upon her death, do not leave her dead body to others. Perform her funeral rites yourself."
Thus this statement of the Imam (a.s.) is pregnant with two prophecies. Her ...
People, who have abandoned shame and decency so as to commit such a revolting and loathsome act of sexual perversion in the presence of other people, are like cancer for the society. If they are left alive, they will spread their shamelessness till it engulfs the entire society. This was the fate of the people of Lut (a.s.). First, Satan led one person to commit this indecency and later he invited others to the same evil. Finally, the crime ...
Islam, being the youngest of the three great revealed religions, shares many ideas and concepts with Christianity and Judaism because the origin of all three religions is the same God. In today’s talk, let us briefly look at the concept of messiah in Islam. MESSIANISM IN ISLAM Muslims ...
A'araab refers to the nomadic Arabs or Bedouins who are absolutely ignorant of religion and rituals connected with faith. Hijrat signifies the migration of these desert Arabs to the Muslim centre, their acceptance of Islam at the hands of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) or his rightful successor, and their consequent adherence to faith, and adherence to religious rules and regulations.
Becoming A'araab after Hijrat is the condition when a desert ...
1. The Prophetic tradition of the two weighty things The messenger of Allah (saw) said, O People, I leave amongst you two things which if you follow, you will never go astray. They are the Book of Allah and my Ahl al-Bayt [family].He also said: The messenger of my God is about to come to me and I shall answer. I am leaving with you the two weighty things: The first is the Book of Allah, in which you find guidance and enlightenment, ...
