Families of stranded Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia hold protest in Islamabad

- Dozens of family members of Pakistanis stranded and unpaid workers in Saudi Arabia staged a protest demonstration in Islamabad asking the government to take concrete steps for bringing back those people.

The protesters were carrying placards and banners seeking serious help of the government regarding problems of the stranded Pakistanis.

Presently around 9,000 Pakistani workers of two defaulted companies are facing the issues regarding their pending salaries, end of service benefits, renewal of Iqamas (residence permit), transfer of work permit, food and health, etc.

Recently on the directive of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Pir Syed Sadaruddin Shah Rashidi traveled to Saudi Arabia to solve the problems of stranded Pakistani workers.

Saudi authorities have already assured full cooperation for extending health, food and other facilities to Pakistani workers residing in around 20 camps in different cities including Dammam, Riyadh, Jeddah and Taif. But the problems are still there and thousands of stranded Pakistani workers are suffering severe situation in Saudi Arabia.
