Head of the Islamic Revolution Supporters Society Mahdi Eqrarian said on Tuesday that the second Iranian solidarity convoy will soon be dispatched to Bahrain. He added that several renowned international rights activists would accompany the second convoy, IRNA reported.

On Monday, the first Iranian solidarity convoy left Iran's southern port of Dayyer, located some 1,300 kilometers (807 miles) south of the capital Tehran, a Press TV correspondent reported.

However, the convoy, which compromised of one hundred and twenty Iranian activists, had to return on the same day.

The convoy had traveled up to a distance of 22 nautical miles away from Iran's coasts, when it made its home return.

The activists, among them students, scholars, physicians and women and children, threw in the water letters they carried to show their 'moral support' for Bahrainis. A number of children even threw their dolls and toys in the water to show solidarity with the kids in Bahrain.

Since the beginning of Bahrain's revolution, thousands of anti-government protesters have poured into the streets across the country, calling for more rights, freedom and wide-ranging political reforms in the political system of their country.

According to local sources, dozens of people have been killed and hundreds arrested so far during the government clampdown on the peaceful demonstrations.

Amnesty International says it is concerned about the fate of missing activists in Bahrain and the fact that detained protesters are being tortured there with impunity.
